I am considering getting an IBEX trophy pro, but the 2 closest LBS in my area sells
1.GF, Santa Cruz, Trek
2. Cannondale and Specialized

What kind of service levels have you other owners received from your LBS. The last thing I want is to pick up an IBEX and have place me on the bottom of the totem pole and give me the run around because I didn't by a GF or something.

I don't see why a LBS should treat an Ibex bike different than any other bike. How many bikes do they see that weren't bought from their store to begin with? More than half I would imagine. Don't they make a higher profit from doing "tune-ups" and repairs to existing bikes than selling a new bike?

If the LBS is worth their salt, they will treat your IBEX just as well as any other bike. They are there to service the biking enthusiasts who spend money and keep their shop open, not pass judgment on everyone's ride.

If they treat you poorly, find another LBS for service. You ARE paying them, it's not like they are working for free, so they should do the best work for the money. That's good business no matter what, bikes or otherwise.

Buy the Ibex, who care what the LBS thinks. Not to mention, it would be wise to be self reliant. You never know what the trail will throw at you. Unless the LBS offers AAA traiside assistance.

I go to a LBS that is 45 minutes away from me yet ther ar probibly 6 within 4-10 minutes from me. I have bought bikes at the Loco shops & they just couldnd get things right. I adjusted my sons brakes, my wife takes it in the the "Free Service" the brakes drag & the derailleur out of adjustment. She turns right around beffor leaving & says the brakes wernt draging whe i dropped it off, oh those are very finiky that was the best we could do. :madman:
The 45 minute away real LBS i have never bought a bike from them, they are friendly & i always have a good time. I go in & can barrow tools for adjustments beffor or after a ride in emergency, have walked in with a rear cog problem & they said there is a warranty fix for that, do you have the parts, of course we do, can i barrow your tools & do the job & you get paid, here is the parts there are the tools. :drumroll: I bring them beer on occasions to say thank you, 12-24 bottles of quality beer goes a long way. It's not easy to find a respectable shop but they are out there. :)

I've taken my bike into the local shop once to get my wheels trued and they were in awe of my bike. Really friendly guys. They were complementing me left and right about the components and the quality of it. Honestly they didn't treat me any differently. They knew a good bike when they saw one.
Now unfortunately there will be a$$holes out there who think that if it doesn't have a big name on it it's subpar... but if that's the case take your money somewhere else.

depends on which lbs you go too... some of them treat you like sh1t cause all they care about is making money from you because it is a must for everyone to buy a bike from them. What they dont know is that by treating everyone good including ibex guys is that we'll actually throw more business their way by giving out recommendations. I dont go to an LBS anymore as i fix most of my stuff myself. However, for gear i go to RideSFO in Oakland and they always make sure i'm taken cared of... As for fixing parts, give the Ibex Tech a call or find a friend who wrenches their own bikes and learn. In my case, it's Dogonfr who just taught me how to rebuild a fork last week... XD

Is that the fork you just blew up? Bawaaahhaaaaa!!!:yesnod:
yea... mostly cause it's old and there's wear and tear on it already and when i threaded the nut back in i must've weakened it even more... Not blaming Marzocchi on this cause it's probably due to age... But it's the second marzocchi i've killed... lol

He did have a seriously blown seal but Marz used a aluminum nut on a aluminum rebound damper so the threads are pulling appart each other. My wife mentioned the built in planed life of products due to assembly weak points. Just another reason he can now loose 10lbs of the fork.:lol::lol:

Well, I placed my order for the IBEX Trophy. I will very soon find out what kind of support the LBS will give. The bike should be here tomorrow (Fri) and I am going to take it to my LBS for setup. What would be a fair price for this service?

Congratz on the new bike, dont forget to post porn :thumbsup:

I have read between 60-70 duckets, wouldnt hurt to have a 6 pack near by & if they do a quality job & are good spirited bring them in a reward. if they are rude & just want your money leave the beer in the car for when you get home & pop wheelies around the neighborhood. :cornut:
