It's clear at Demo now. But if the wind changes directions who knows. The smoke was over Monterey yesterday, but high enough up in the atmosphere that the air seemed ok.
This map does not look good for my prop. We are right above Scotts creek were it splits, I see way to much red! Does the red mean confirmed burned area? I'm thinking when I can get up there my cabin will be a smoldering pile of ash.:madmax: Oh well we can re build!

dude - that would suck, hope it works out for ya ... the fire reports have only detailed a single outbuilding being destroyed so far, but can't say how accurate that is ... good luck!

Hope it does not happen, but if it does, pm me I can give you some tips on dealing with the aftermath having lost my home to a wild fire two years ago. BTW these early maps can be not that accurate, so don't count your property out yet.
Saw an article a little bit ago that say's Cal fire is stating it could take another week to get full containment on this one, good luck to everyone in the area.

Ok, I really looked into this map and have blown it up and found that it looks like the fire burn area is still about a 1/4 or so south of our mountain. So I believe (thinking positive) we are ok as of now! If for some reason we do lose, I guess my MTB trails will still be there! Again trying to think positive. Thanks Buzzcut, Felton Flyer, Carlhungus and everyone else for the info.
Just got a live update from our neighbors who live on the mountain, we are all good!! Fire is still across on ridge south of us! So stoked, now just hoping CAfire kicks some serious arse and Mother Nature is kind to everyone in danger. Oh yeah, I do surf Scotts and other reefs around that area, it my other passion! Love it
My Son just sent me a text message. He is a UCSC student & works on campus. He says it is raining ash and very, very smokey there right now. It sounds like UCSC & Wilder might be bad for the next few days depending on the wind direction & when they get the fire under control.

Umm, you were right Kill. It's smokey as he*l at Demo now. The winds looks like it's SW or West. If the situation improves tomorrow morning I'll post a update to myself again.
I was all set to go for a rare, after work Demo ride but the smoke changed my plans. I couldn't even see the hills while driving through Watsonville. Bummer.

Anyone got a map of the area affected? A buddy of mine texted me saying it was close to Grey Whale/UCSC but I find that hard to believe. I hear it's at 2000 acres though and it does seem close to Big Basin.
