Here's the best map I've seen so far. Felton Flyer, I've heard wind direction is expected to change this afternoon, pushing the fire South towards Bonny Doon.
Buzzcut - I have prop up off Last Chance road (Pine Mountain), do you think we are ok, looking at the map it looks like the fire is more south? Just not sure, we have a cabin up their and camping gear. I guess i'll know when I go up in a few days for sure.
my friend Barbara who owns big creek ranch says that unless the wind switches directions that area is ok , no homes lost, swanton, big creek, last chance so far

Buzzcut - Thanks for the info, good news for us Last Chancers, not so good for Bonny Dooners! Lots of air tankers flying over Aptos in route to fire! Go get em boys an girls! So far wind has not come up to the 20 knots predicted as far as I can tell. Maybe some weather on our side!
I just got off the phone w/Ex - she's still @ the house - Empire and Alba area, but may leave at a moments notice. Don't get your chamois in a bunch just yet FF, It's a LONG way from Smith and Empire. I doubt this one will reach you w/o burning across the top of Empire for @ 8 miles. Not gonna happen.
From the Soquel-Capitola vantage point, it is getting worse, for sure.
That was mostly white (steam) when I left for work this a.m.
I called at noonish and offered to help some friends evac and they already got out.
Naw Nacho....I'm quite a bit south of this fire. The smoke is blowing out over the ocean north of Santa Cruz and across the Monterey Bay toward Seaside and Marina. Aptos/Capitola has been spared of smoke so far. got a ride in yesterday and today on my local trails and it seem strange riding sweet singletrack in the Redwoods knowing a wildland fire is happening near by......:nonod:
other than potential air quality issues, you should be okay. some pretty huge weather shifts, as well as a good size road and a couple major drainage crossings, would have to happen for this fire makes it anywhere near wilder. it's about 10 miles away from there.

smoky here and in the university this morning, but as long as the wind blows north, I would think SDF is good to ride ... Wilder and the school - prolly not ...
