Hi.

Swapping out bits on my 2 x old MTB's to make one (The Scott Voltage YZ1) better than the other (Claud Butler Trailridge) I noticed that the CB has larger cogs on the derailieur than the scott.

what is the benefit of this and is it better please?

There's no benefit. You'll find the red cog on lower end derailers. I assume to cut costs?
