stop to talk to actual people and not just political pundits
ride at a leasurely pace after getting up at 10 am hung over
drink beer with the regular folk

You are kidding, right?

You are not serious with this post, because if you are, you need to look a little more closely at this. Here's my take:

1. Lance has a sizable investment in the Discovery Team. If there is someone on the Tour Team contesting for the overall at the end, (RAGBRAI is the last week of the Tour) I would think Lance would want to be there. Agreement or no, especially if it's Hincapie, Lance would be on a plane to Paris.

2. Have you ever examined what happens at Lance's public appearances? He maintains a 50ft "bubble" around him at all times. No one gets closer without prior clearance. People are screened beforehand and all appearances are pre-planned before they ever happen, although they might appear to be spontaneous. People that ride with him are pre-selected long in advance. If you are a cancer survivor or advocate for research and developement into cures for cancer, welcome aboard! If you are a typical, beer swilling, pork chop eating, bead wearing RAGBRAI'er you have a better chance of seeing Lance on the evening news reports than you do on RAGBRAI.

Lastly: Lance is a dude on a bike. Yes, he won seven Tours in a row, but he's still just a dude on a bike. Lance hysteria has me nauseated already. I can only imagine it'll get worse as we approach RAGBRAI this July. So, I'm maybe a bit cynical about the whole thing, but Lance eating pork chops and riding with beaded recumbent riders in an unrehearsed atmousphere? Never happen!

You'll see the post read "any takers", meaning I'm sure nobody will see him, he won't stop for pie or chops and he won't ride with the masses like a regular dude. So your opinions are pretty much exactly what I was thinking also.
