I got down on them on one of these threads for having one price on their website and another in their shopping cart. They refunded me the difference.

BTW I am very happy with the Ti bike and Rockshox fork I got from them. It built up well, is light, and handles nice.

Not 100% certain but it seems like they have added additional verbiage to explain pricing too.

Good job Rich and BD

Only because you publicly bad mouthed them correct? Didn't you try other methods first and got denied? If BD refunded your money only because they feared further honest bad mouthing and NOT because they knew what they did was wrong, then screw them....

If I am misinformed, then I apologize. I just hate it when companies "fix" their problems because of fear that people will find out what they have done behind closed doors, as opposed to simply just doing what is right on their own...

RW...you did say the AFTER your purchase you "requested the price posted on the site and was denied". Did you work some sort of deal with them that included you coming back to MTBR and posting a "Kudos" remark if they gave you $100 back? It does not seem that they deserve this post from you considering the measures that it took for them to do what is simply "right".

Am I missing something here??

If you had not spent personal time coming to MTBR to rant, would you have your refunded money or not? You DID try other measures correct.....BEFORE you came to MTBR??

I dealt with the main guy and that is when I got the refund. I e-mailed Chris and he denied me a price adjustment. Upon hearing my complaint on this board Mike mentioned he would look into it. I e-mailed him all the particulars including e-mails to Chris and my payment info. They provided me with a refund. I made no deal with Mike because of the refund. I wouldn't do that for $100. Perhaps $101.50!

They are in the business to make money. A lot of companies make mistakes on web sites and don't honor obviously mis printed prices and info. This one was a close call as far as I was concerned but it still bothered me.

I imagine I would not have gotten a refund if it was not brought to Mikes attention.

So I do think you owe me an apology for insinuating that I did something that I did not do.:madmax:
Lo Siento

I apologize RW. Sounded like Mike was sort of shutting you down at first on MTBR and then decided to honor your request. Good work! Hey...I will give you that $101.50 for the bike:p
Nothing like a little mtbr pressure to get a refund. Too bad you had resort to that but good you got the money back.

Sure! The shipping cost will kill you though!:nono:
It doesn't sound like he got the refund b/c of pressure on the forums. Actually, he probably didn't get the refund initially b/c he was dealing w/ Chris (who seems to have the personality of a door knob). I've asked questions regarding their products and received really short, dismissive answers. However, when dealing w/ Mike, they've been very informative, and handled w/ enthusiasm. I don't own a Moto, Chris almost set that in stone but Mike's willingness to take the time to answer questions has made me reconsider. That's my 2 cents.

But that is exactly what happened. The OP brought his complaint to the appropriate CS rep and didn't get satisfaction. Brought it to a public forum and Mike made it happen. This doesn't necessarily mean Chris was out to screw him over or that Mike bowed to public pressure, but to get BD CS to act appropriately it took a very public act. Mike made it clear in his posts that he as a search function to let him know when DB or Motobecane are mention in a forum. Now we know how to get his attention. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I'm happy that the OP got his just rebate. And I think that Mike was very forthcoming and honest in his communication on the board (he even seemed to indicate they would find and refund money to all those who we billed a different price and check out), but should it have come to this? Or should the original CS rep done his job in the first place?

My $0.02

How many other bike companies can you name where you can get the attention of the principal, in a public forum, where the results of your complaint are in full public view for everyone to see, judge, and toss in their criticism or praise?

That counts for something in my book.
Hey, Bikes Direct.

I had the same communication going but the posted price wasn't honored ...

Thats a good point. I can't think of any off the top of my head. A few bike accessory companies come to mind like Geoman, but not any big bike manufactures.
On my recent purchase, I tried to buy and checkout online, but the paypal process would add sales tax in La, even when their site says Texas? And the online credit card process wouldn't take my perfectly good credit card either. Couldn't get past that, so I called the number they said was only for their special payment processor, it turned out to be someone in Fla taking orders. I was kinda nervous when she wanted to simply take my order via phone instead, but it worked fine, got email receipt almost immediately, and bike two days later. No probs.

We're all agreed, then. Only happy thoughts from now on. I nominate Fo to be the mtbr.com U.N. rep.
