Talked to an inside guy at Kona over the weekend. He confirmed a 29" version of the unit, with Dedacci tubing, sliding drops for an 06 model. Price in the low $400's, and a Project 2 fork to match (sold separately).

Wow!

That's fantastic. Within a few months we may have the following frame choices in the $400-500 range alone:

- venerable Karate Monkey, 4130 steel, SS or geared, still a great bike.
- Soma, gearing options to be announced, still steel but should be quite a bit lighter than the KM.
- Kona Package , also steel, SS w/ sliding dropouts -- better than KM for SSers who run discs.
- Airborne B-29 aluminum, geared.

That's a pretty phenomenal selection, folks! Just think how many more riders will convert with such a range of affordable choices available. Mainstream, here we come!

If it's priced in the low $400, then that would be a great deal and lighter alternative to the KM.

Did your source mention if they are going to use the sliding vert dropouts like on the Cowan?
