Yep -- just a bit mucky out. Damn -- three races in a row where the weather gods have frowned upon us. Cut us a break in Northern NJ!
My bike FS bike took a beating on the first lap between the ghost shifting and the chain suck -- I DQed myself and decided to ride my singlespeed for the subsequent laps. At least I didn't have shifting problems after that (just rider problems!)
this race brought back fond memories of the last bulldog race just add 50 degrees or so. sadly i have put over 2,000 miles on my road bike since the bulldog rump and I still suck! I' blame it all on my mechanic.
I agree, if I were you, I would complain to that mechanics manager and get him canned first thing Monday morning!
Just imagine how much worse it could have been without the Stan's stuff....!!!
Let's see, first the Giant Dual didn't win, now the Jamis Hardtail didn't come thru....I think next race either use the DK BMX bike OR the Raleigh Coupe Tandem. Yea, that's the ticket!
I was visiting the east coast from California and decided to try the race, I was in the 40-49 expert race. It was the mudiest race I've ever done!!!!!!!! My bike is trashed:madman: But it was fun. I think I was 3rd or 4th, but it was raining and I was ready to leave so I don't know.
After my front brake went and I got tired of drifting around turns, I stopped after my second lap. That fact that I had the wrong tires on and my shoe fell apart didn't help the situation much either... but I still had fun. Now a different kind of fun of taking my bike apart and cleaning out all the mud and dirt.
