So now that I'm into cross dressing, I need to get a cross bike to go with it

Kidding on the cross dressing I've looked on roadbikereview but it's definitely not getting as much traffic as this site. I need to replace my road bike and wanted to get a cross bike so that I can ride some light offroad with it as well.

I'm thinking of the Redline, maybe the Lemond Poprad or Trek XO1. Any thoughts on these? Any other suggestions?

Haven't bought a new road bike in 21 years (road that one for over 13 years before retiring it).

My brother got a Bianchi Axis a few months ago, and it is a very sweet ride. They run about $1100 retail, which isn't too bad (I don't know what the other bikes you listed cost).

The jake the snake is around $1100 with full 105. The gearing is kinda tall (48/39-12-25) but that can be fixed pretty easily. Im running a truvativ MTB triple on mine adding more versatility.

Seems to be alot of value for the money. Any thoughts on Ibex bikes in general and this one in particular?

Redline, Lemond Poprad, Trek XO1, Bianchi Axis, Kona JTS/Major Jake, Kelly, Soma Double Cross, Surly Cross Check, etc can be on your list.

Try the CX boards on roadbikereview and bikeforums to get CX specific info.

Go ride, get sized, figure out your preferences. If you're open to it, then look to craigslist or ebay for used. I got a slightly used Independent Fab Planet X for about the same price as the bikes above.
