kinda off topic...brooks swallow

I figured someone on this forum would be able to answer my question. I just got a brooks swallow saddle used (for my 29er) and am wondering if the rails are ti or steel. they sure look ti, and I put a small magnet up to them to see it would stick, and it didn't. does this mean the rails are ti? thanks a bunch.

yuppers..Brooks rails are steel or Ti..

The answer to your question is yes. Titanium will respond so weakly to the magnet that it will seem non-magnetic.

I had a ti-railed brooks pro and the rails were matte finished and grey in color. Very different in look from the shiny finished steel rails. My pro weighed 385grams on a digital gram scale and yours should be around 30-40 grams lighter. That Swallow is a beautiful saddle,

thanks for the response...they are indeed ti then, as they are not shiny and the magnet doesn't stick to the rails. thanks so much!!

I'll let you in on a little secret. Don't tell anyone, but Ben's cycles has some display Swallows with Ti rails for $225. I got a black one a month and a half ago.

You can also figure out which rails by weight. 360 grams for the Ti rails.

Thanks for the heads up. I really wanted a black one but they were sold out so I ended up getting a brown one. I saved $140.95 over the cheapest one I have been eyeing on e-bay.:thumbsup: :thumbsup:
