So last weekend my 3 year old and I went to the local middle school for a nice ride. I wanted to take him some where that was flat and had little traffic. We started in the bus circle and then rode around the school several times. Then we went down to the track where the little man ripped off 2 miles without stopping. After that we had to go back to the bus circle and ride around for a cool down. When all was said and done we went home and had some peanutbutter and marshmellow cream sandwhiches and he took a nap for about 2 and a half hours. All week whenever we pass the school in the car he tells me that he wants to go get his bike. Hopefully when he is old enough to ride with me he will still want to.

Sweet! Keep it up. My son started riding with training wheels when he was 3 and a half. I got him to ride without training wheels just a few weeks ago at 4 1/2 years old! I highly recommend gloves and pads. It made a huge difference with the fear level for my son. I wish I had a better picture, but my wife only took low quality videos, but no pictures.

I remember those sandwiches. Kraft used to advertise them as Fluffer-Nutters. I loved them as a kid.....still do.

Your boy looks like he's gonna take to MTB.....like a kid to a fluffer-nutter....Congrats! You must be proud.

Before you know it....

They'll be out riding serious miles with you. Last week my son logged in about 55 miles on the road bike, he's 12. A good day on the trail is about 15 miles. Just recently I got a new singlespeed, so he took over the old one. The first one is about a year and a half ago (when he was 11), second is a few weeks ago on the singlespeed:

My daughter is 7 and she's hitting the singletrack. She's just beginning, but time flies and it will not be long before she's riding aggressively as well. Here she is with my hubby and the one after is on a previous ride:

Dang it, now you made me do it!

My seven year old. First she is on our old cobbled together teeter totter. The second is in Red Rock, I need to get her out there again soon.. The third is the our new teeter totter that I built this week. So far she hasn't done it without dad's assistance -- we'll head to the park where she can practice over grass.

Great thread. I love seeing little kids no matter what sport out and getting into it. Much better then all the little kiddies sitting at home on the computer or at the TV...

Still not sure about the Kiddie Porn name in the title.. There is always a funny element hanging around.

Love to see kids in action

What a nice teeter totter, can you send me the blue prints?

The little devil started riding without training when he was around 3, since then he dropped the 14" POS Kent, a Haro Mini CR and have been riding a Diamondback Octane for the last 2 years. He hated BMX and all he wanted was to ride with dad.

I've documented here many of his race results and amazes me the amount of people that give words of encouragement to him and to the other parents that take their kids to the trails and their kid(s) are their favorite riding partner.

One word of advice, to keep the fire burning don't push him to ride. Let him ride when he feels like and introduce him to the dirt as soon as possible, the little ones love singletrack and berms.

I found that disturbing, too. I know it was meant in jest, but it is such a horrible problem.

Can that title be modified?

Bad choice of words in thread Title

this is really bad taste in choosing thread title. Many mtb riders here have family and don't like the choice of words. Can you change the title to something more benign. It is gross, inconsiderate.

Here is my almost 7 year old son. We were out and got to this section with a steep spot about 4 feet high. Here is trying it a few times. He almost made it up the first couple and wanted to hit it. Apparently it was fun on the way down :p

Third time was the charm!

Now this is riding with kids.

Some kids I picked up on the trail that were lost. Their mother just left them out there to live off the land while she was building trail.

The nerve of some people.
