Ok here is a quick pic of my build in progress....

List w/ prices
KHS XCT 535 $299
Fox Float RL140 $349
SRAMX7 Shifters $32 (I choose these over the X9 because I like indicators)
SRAMX9 R.D. $56
Easton EA70 Bar $29
Easton EA50 Post $15
Raceface XC stem $39
MAVIC 521 X9 Hubs $189
Shimano LX Crank $79

ALL PARTS ARE BRAND NEW! Everything bought on a budget and weight concerns! I want the price to stay around $1200

That is what I have so far (rims arn't here yet). I'll post a pic when it is more complete. The only thing I still need are hydro brakes, pedals, and shifter housing.

The bike is 17lbs right now as pictured. I am hoping to stay under 25!! Wheelset is gunna bring it up to 21lbs.... (1950grams)..

Frame is a medium. I shed 2lbs from the fork alone from the stock bike! The rims (521 Mavic) are a little heavy duty so to speak then a true XC rim but I ride aggressive and did not want to go real light on the wheelset.

The bars/stem are real light. I'm not looking for paper light because of my aggressive style but I do climb a bit so I wanted to consider it.

Update!!!

Only a couple minor things left. I just ordered an AVID bleed kit so I can shorten the brake lines. All in all, build ran under $1500. Not bad for a full suspension, under 30lbs bike eh??!

What did the final weight come in at? I'm curious about it compared to the 604 builds I'm more familiar with.

To be honest, I think I am at 30lbs. I need to weigh the bike a little more accurate. I really thought I'd be around 28lbs... All the stuff at the end of the build really adds up.

I really didn't build it as a cross-country bike anyhow. It's more of an all-mountain bike. I am a pretty aggressive rider so I wanted to beef up certain components such as the bars and wheels. In the spring, I will take it to the LBS to get it weighed.

heres a new pic with new pedals. new weight = 30.3 lbs

had my first couple rides on it last week. while descending, it feels very precise. yet it climbs even better. next upgrade will most likely be a set of wider handlebars. i think this should improve feel and handling going downhill.

I really need to get that seatpost! Yeah, downhills are REAL nice, arn't they? I'm also climbing well with the bike, no pedal bob at all. Feels like, nimble, turns on a dime, and VERY stable on downhills... I am VERY happy!!!
