I rode it 10/02/05. It was encroached by vegetation and that scratched me up pretty good. There are some loose spots. The last section is collapsed so you'll hike it right down the slide into Oakwilde picnic area. The real problem is the Gabrielino trail, which is what you'll take down back into Arroyo Seco. The area is no longer strictly dry riverbed, as there are now water and vegetation accumulations. The vegetation obscured the exit up the east face of the ravine, and I missed it entirely to end up at the top of the 80-foot man-made waterfall. I backtracked several times, and by that point the sun had already set. Visibility was a problem, and I ended up stepping knee-deep into the fetid water/vegetation pools. I made the choice to scramble up the side of the eastern ravine face in hopes of crossing the trail that would bring me over and down the waterfall. Dragging a bike through dry brush while scrambling through loose dirt and leaves wasn't very fun to say the least. I rolled twice, but did eventually find the trail. There's a longer and stranger story after that, but I'll leave that for another time.dirtmistress said:
Some friends who rode from Redbox also had the same problem, but they started earlier in the day, and they ran into hikers coming down said trail over the waterfall.
