I know KMs are fast, having just built up a SS one myself, but I'd guess I'd need drop bars and a Rohloff Speedhub to keep up with those steamliners. ;)

Nice looking bike. Sketchy choice of brake levers though. If they didn't work well on a Schwinn Varsity, why would you put them on a Rohloff'ed Monkey? Shifter cable routing is interesting too. I wonder how the right drop works?
I know that dude. He's from Iowa. Raced that bike at a CX race in the Quads this fall. He's also raced it at Decorah a few times. Fast dude. I think the levers are mostly a joke, but he said they do work fine.

Actually, the only reason they really sucked was the brakes! As a lever, the actuation ratio would be correct, assuming he's using road set up Avids. I would think the power would be great, and the light flex in the lever, offers some increased modulation, (unproven theory, but I'm 3/4 serious). The bars are GREAT too, nice old French long reach deep drops, cool and retro, that one ought to be on the retro forum, just to make those grouches scratch their heads a bit=: )
