Hello everyone,

I crashed pretty hard this morning on left shoulder and upper back. had the wind completely knocked out of me, and took 10 minutes or so until I could gather myself and ride home. It was pretty scary in the beginning because I could not draw breath for a minute or so. Continued to have a lot of pain in shoulders, back and stomach, and went to emergency room. Turns out I separated my shoulder and fractured ribs in my back.

Am on pretty serious pain meds, so it doesn't hurt too bad at the moment.

Can anyone recommend some "discrete" pads I might wear under a baggy shirt or something maybe? I don't want to be the laughing stock of the local trails, but crashing this morning just hurt too much to not start doing something about it...

Maybe something like a padded shirt, with some plastic plates or something?

Advice would be welcome.

I was wearing a camelbak with a bunch of padding, so thank goodness for that.

661 under armor is best light weight way to protect shoulders. Look at G form pads for
Knee and elbow. FWIW I pad up for all my AM riding and am still out with joint injuries since pads have not spares my joints much, just no skin scars to show for it...

YEah, pads probably would not have prevented the shoulder injury.....same with the ribs, if you crashed that hard, they may or may not have helped.

good luck with the separated shoulder. Hope it is only a grade 1

I had the similar injury. Now have POC VPD Spine TEE. Not sure it would have helped, it just might have deflected the blow to the shoulder enough, but who knows.

The armor is pretty warm, I save it for the DH days. And even under baggy it is fairly noticable, though you do not look too silly
