I live north valley phoenix and am just getting back on the bike after years off and a massive injury in January. It would help if i can get recommendations for easy dirt rides and maybe someone to ride with. Right now i am doing the CAP road that links to deems hill.

Just about any trail in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve North Area for ease and to gain some fitness. I like the Granite Mtn TH, although Pima-Dynamite TH is a bit closer for you.

Years ago this site was a good place to connect for rides. But not so much any more. Instead check out one of the Meetup groups in north Phoenix area. That would be a good start to find some like skilled folks to ride with.

Good luck and have fun. Congrats on getting back in the saddle!

Bob

Apache wash TH is close to you as well. You can even ride that same canal combined with a bit of relatively low traffic pavement to the Desert Vista trailhead of Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, but that is more climbing that the flatlands around Apache Wash. There is also some decent singletrack on the other side of the canal. Hop the concrete barrier at the end of Stetson Valley Parkway and explore the area called Pyramid Peak.

I have been off the bike for over a decade. Just lost a lot of weight and am trying to build my legs again. I am looking for similar to you op. Not sure what days you have available but I have a truck and am willing to drive. Though my days off are during the week Wednesday thru Friday.

I live near the cubs summer stadium and currently have been riding the canal path down. To Tempe town lakes and sometimes down to sky harbor.

All good suggestions. I'm in Anthem. I rode Apache Wash trail the other day for the first time. I usually ride Sidewinder and Ocotillo if I ride there, but there was a big group benefit hike/walk going on, so I took the wash. Nice change of pace and a chill recovery ride. And you can still go mess around on sections Sidewider if you want to climb a bit.

Brown's Ranch and McDowell are also great for this kind of riding, extremely relaxing and some beautiful areas (gooseneck trail connects both and is a fun trail). Plenty of mild stuff to ride, but a few places to mess around and start building your skills again. Check out the Granite Mtn Loop in Browns for a bit more fun, still very mild, but has a few place to climb and get your legs back in shape without committing to something bigger.

GET THE TRAILFORKS app...PAY THE SMALL FEE...it's worth it!

I feel like most of the competitive tracks would be a good starting point. They all seem to be wide cut with minimal bouncing. McDowell, with the exception of the long loop is very mild. Some of the desert floor trails like Petersen, Gadsen and Desert Rose out here at Estrella would be good too.

I used to ride i think it was fantasy island north over in the Estrella area but that was like 2011 when i was fitter and don't have to rebuild my leg strength. I will check these out. I am doing a group ride from meetup at apache wash and i am excited to push the distance. My longest ride is 11 miles and they are doing 12. its not much but it is something.

EDIT. this is the OP apparently my work computer has a different account I made haha
