Hey all
6’5” / 195 cm and 235 lbs / 105 kgs. I’ve managed to get my hands on a new geometry Timberjack in XL. Just ordered all the parts (well, wheels I’ve cancelled the order and need to build some.)
It’s been tricky getting everything due to the current parts shortages (had to eBay a cassette from Japan), but otherwise I have snagged some great deals.
SLX shifter, crankset (175mm/32t) and rear mech. M6120 4-pot brakes with 203/180mm rotors. 2022 RockShox Domain 150mm I found at 60% retail. Race Face Turbine R bar and stem. Rock Shox 200mm Rever Stealth dropper. M6100 cassette.
I bought Shimano WH-MT620 wheel set, but have cancelled mainly as they’re 30mm internal rim width and I want 32h front and rear. Once I get confirmation the my are cancelled I’m ordering Race Face AR 35mm 29 rims and RF Trace hubs which I’ll have tohave in hand to measure before buying spokes as I can’t find dimensions for the hubs anywhere. I’m planning on running Teravail Coronado 2.8 tanwalls. Salsa say the Timberjack is 29x2.6 maximum, but I read a lot of people are running 2.8 in that frame. I was initially really after a 29+, something like a Surly Krampus, before deciding I could probably make a 2.8 work in the TJ.
Ridiculously excited. I’ve ridden only road/TT since college, and the best thing I’ve picked up is a FollowMe tandem and thru-axle for my 4 year old. Looking forward to building this up!
