I got a singlespeed last year and have really loved it since i began riding it. i run a 32-13 gear combintation and have run into few problems with getting up hills but i was wondering, has anyone tried making a 1x3 or 1x2 i am fast with a singlespeed but i think that having those 2 other options might help me become faster.

Even the best riders will have trouble with most hills with the 13 cog. I would first try several different cogs. In PA with light hills I ride 32:16, moderate hills 32:18 and for heavy hills 32:20. Changeover time is about 10min even with the brake adjustment.

For $3.98ea at Jenson you can experiment to find the right gear and then buy a more expensive cog, but these seem to work fine for me.

This is completely possible. It's called "not a singlespeed."

How are you spinning out on hard climbs?

I like to believe there is a perfect ratio for every individual in every circumstance, even if I can think of several instances where this is not true.
