How good is the giant dh team at jumping stuff? Is it like really hard to get any air and boost off lips compared to say a faith or 7point?

The reason for asking is because I am interested in buying one used on the classifieds for a real nice price, but I am not sure I want to pedal around and dirt jump a full on dh bike, because it would be my only bike other than my bmx. I would also like to race alot next season, so I am confused?

So, to sum up, is a giant dh (03' with swinger 6way and super-t) any good for the occasional trail ride and dirt jumping? I could just use my bmx for dj's though.

Well I dont plan on getting a faith, I just wonder if the dh team will be able to jump...
are you selling your bmx or something? Just use both. I have a 26" dirt jumper and a fully. They get used for different things. Street, DJ's and just screwing around gets done on the hardtail and then DH and bigger freeriding is done on the fully, but I do a lot of jumping on the trails that i ride, some pretty steep doubles and stuff. As long as your suspension is set up right you can still hit DJ's, jsut a bit more cumbersome.

well?

I have an 05 giant dher.
It isn't the best pedaler because the chain line sucks and it is heavy as sheet! Do not
reccomend taking it as a trail riding bike. Have done it a few times and always end up walking hills or pretty much any incline with serious distance.
Somehow I always seem to forget how much it sucks to hump up the hill when I come down though :p

As for jumping, you can get some good practice at loading the suspension and jumping
but, man it is work! I did some urban on it over the weekend and am paying for it now with an icepack strapped to my back! (I know I'm a whus!).

Conclusion, I would not use this a a jumping/trail riding bike. Use it as a DH/FR bike and be much more happy! Buy a cheap DJ bike and keep the DHer! Great combination of bikes.

Well I have pretty much come to the conclusion that I will skip on the Giant and wait awhile and buy a freeride bike that I can pedal around (since its a 5 hour drive to the closest mountain with a lift) and in a month or two (Sx trail, Iron horse 7.7 etc)

SX Trail all the way! Run it w/ a fox 36 or a marz 66 and you'd be STYLIN! (Disclaimer: I have an Enduro myself, I am biased.)

both bikes are great, the IH and SXT, but i heard a rumor (please let me know if this is not true) that the IH with the DW link arn't quiet the best jumpers around. as for the SXT they are pricy, but so is the 7.7. personal i'd go with the SXT just cause it's a really nice ride, and jumps real great. great for downhill to, but not as everyday. you can pedal this thing, but it will still be hard.
