Hi All,

For optimal stability, I'd prefer to brake with just my index finger (short fingers are not helpful in creating a solid grip). Problem is, I can't get my lever positioned to provide decent index-finger leverage due to the way the Juicy 7 and the Sram shifters fit together. Someone suggested reversing them on an old thread, but it put the lever above the shifters - not a good fit. Any suggestions? Should I get a shorter lever (is that possible on the 7s)? Different shifters?

thanks!

Take a look at the SRAM/Avid Matchmaker.

It's an integrated clamp for SRAM/Avid brake and shifter systems.

I'm running it with X9 and Codes.

Works well for one finger braking and shifter position.

I'm running my Juicy 7's inside my XO shifters and it works great. Gives me 1 finger braking.
The matchmaker clamp won't work with your older shifters.

Throw away the lever condom. :eekster:
LOL! It's cloth (hockey) tape. I can't stand wearing full-finger gloves in the summer, and have found that cloth tape on the levers and shifters offers great protection from slips.

Thanks! Took a look at the SRAM site. Looks like I'll hit the LBS for this one - no sense blowing $25 on something that might/might not work with my X9 and Juicy 7 and/or might not fix me.

Lucky you! The shifters (X9) were almost in my palm!
