hey everyone. i am getting a jones h-bar and wanted to see if anyone has set up a jones h-bar with a easton ea70 stem.

it seems like most people are running the h-bar with a stem that has a 4-bolt faceplate. the ea70 stem has a hinged 1-bolt faceplate (as you can see).

you guys think this combo will work well??? anyone using a regular 2-bolt faceplate and having good luck??? i am pretty sure 120mm x 10* rise will work well fr me with the jones bar (i have a 100mm X 0* rise with a 26" wide flat bar right now).

I am using a 2 bolt Salsa SUL, zero problems.

25.4 is the key

as long as your bar clamp dia is 25.4 you are cool...

I use a thomson...mostly due to the wide faceplate and 4 bolts...did use the bar w/ a two bold race face and it worked...but some creaking.

with the thomson this thing is rock solid....I would recommed it

i bought a ea70 off ebay, tons of them and they are cheap. i want to make sure the fit is right, then spring for a thomson...the jones h-bar/thomson set up definately sounds solid.

Jeff Jones himself says to use a 4-bolt (like the Thompson) in the material that comes with the bar. I had to use a 140mm/15deg. and I am not sure I would trust any other stem at that length.

Some buddies of mine have been to the Thompson factory and watched destructive test of the the stems. They say the bar clamp hods fine and the stem slowly deforms rather than snapping. Bolt failure could really suck. Having 4 makes me feel better about it.
