Jamis XLT and Transition Bottle Rocket frame design

I know the Transition is probably a better bike, but I couldn't help noticing the same frame geometry and design. Let's say that both are spec'd with the same parts, which bike would be better in terms if ride, durability, and quality? I have also noticed that that Titus Racer X frame sorta shares similar design with the XLT, but the Transition looks almost identical in terms of pivot points and shape. I really like it, but maybe that's because I have an all-black 2005 Jamis 20th anniversary ed.

Btw, I was wondering if this is a frame worth investing in with better parts? Is the XLT frame worth pimping out? Also, what category does the XLT belong to: XC or all-mountain?

If you ask here, everyone will say Jamis. If you ask any other place, they will say Transition.

They are completely different bikes. Just because the suspension linkages look the same dose not mean they are the same. The Jamis is a trail bike where as the Bottle rocket has more of a laid back dirt jumper/slope style feel to it. The BR will take way more punishment them the XLT any day but it will not be the greatest bike for trail and XC riding. Don’t just look the suspension linkages look at the #’s (head angle, top tube length, chain stay length, BB height, ect) that’s were the real info on the bikes is.

I didn't know that. That's good info. I've always thought the frame numbers were more for fit rather than function. I do like the Transition BR more in some respects, such as the seat stay design. It's more rectangular whereas the XLT is more rounded.
