I came on here and complained about my rear triangle breaking on my 08 Dakar XC... I read all the complaints about the warranty process... I was already thinking I was screwed.

:nono: Not so fast... they replaced my rear triangle even though I was NOT the original owner and it was NOT at the original bike shop. I apreciate it and wanted to come on here and tell folks to be patient and give them a chance to make it right.

Not sure if this is the norm or a fluke, but I wanted to come on here (where I complained) and say they made it right.

Good luck to everybody else having issues.

Mine Broke last weekend

Glad to here it. Mine is in the shop (Aug. 18) after it snapped - (going slow and uphill) on Sat. (Aug. 17). I am itching to get it back as it is mid-summer and prime riding time. I'm the original owner and went to the LBS where purchased. They thought there would be no issues. I will post when it is repaired.

Wait, it's been almost a year since you brought your bike in? I would NOT be happy...

Oh - I am not happy - I have had the bike just over a year and have just over 700 miles on it. It has not been ridden hard. I am very nervous if the repair will actually last or have another issue. I am considering selling it once it is fixed and shopping for another ride. I looked at this bike as my learning platform and figured I would upgrade. I just expected to upgrade in a couple of years. Been eyeing the Kona Cadabra or a Knolly.

LBS called yesterday (July 28) and they received an email from Jamis with shipping info for the part and the part (swing arm) is in route. Should have the bike back early next week. I will post again on the actually completion time.

I picked up my bike today. For a recap - Frame broke July 17, took into Salvagetti July 18, picked up from Salvagetti Aug 3. Jamis sent a part - not the same color - it is black. While the color does not match, I am thinking this is an upgrade over the original part. Salvagetti (LBS) did not charge me for the installation - I did give the mechanic a good tip. I think the turn around time was good and I will be putting the bike to a test this weekend to see how it fares.

Jamis Warrenty Concerns

I am a Jamis Pro Shop and i have been very pleased with the warrenty department.
I have had a few chainstays, hubs, & various other items that needed replaced for customers. The response time to the initial email notification of the problem is delt with with in 24-48 hrs. The replacement part is seen with the week. Jamis is top notch.

I currently have a Trek EX8 2009 in the strore that in the past 3 months has had a broken chainstay, replaced after 2-3 wks, then a broken seat stay, replaced after 2 wks, and now a broken frame on the seat tube. Trek has given this customer no replacement because they claim they are out of frames and no straight answer to date. They are vague and non responsive. They are supposed to be the best at warrenty. Here is a guy who bought a bike that has broke 3 times ina few months and you would think Trek would be bending over backwards to fix it, but noooooooo.

Jamis replaced a 05 exile frame, with a new complete bike. That is abaove and beyond.

Cheers to Jamis!!!

I have heard nothing but positive things about Jamis's warranty issues. 3 people I know have had an issue with there frames. 2 got a new frame and the other a new rear triangle. The last bike I bought was a Jamis, just because of the warranty stories.

FWIW, I've been know to break a frame or two.

First ride after repair was excellent

Got in a nice ride - 23 miles on Sunday with no issues. There are a number of berms and some climbs - not DH - and the bike handled great. The shop did a great job and I will keep putting on the miles.

Glad to hear the positive results too. Noticed just last night that my frame was cracked right where the seat stay meets the seat tube.

Hail Mary full of grace......

ohhh. post 700. Yay!

I was not the original owner, I did not have a receipt and I did not go to the shop where it was purchased. In fact it was in a different country from the original purchase.

The only questions asked were send a picture, what's the serial number and what size frame.

I got a brand new frame.

Sweet hook up by Jamis.

Saturday (10/9) I broke the seat tube on my 2009 Dakar XCT 3.0 while bombing a downhill. I took it directly to the local bike shop where I purchased this spring. The new 2010 frame arrived on Wednesday (10/13) and I picked up the completed bike on Thursday (10/14). I wasn't happy when the frame broke but I'm thrilled with Jamis' response and the bike shop (Outdoor Recreational Supply in Youngstown) that turned it around so quickly. Thought I was going to lose some great fall riding. Turns out I only missed the ride I planned on Sunday.
