Meet at the Sequoia Bayview trailhead at 6, and ride at 6:15.

I'll be at the picnic table by the trailhead sign. Tall guy on a tired looking Gray/Orange Hightower with an Aion fork.

Planned loop is:
Sequioa Bayview -> Orchard -> Big Trees -> Sequoia Bayview -> Cindy -> Sunset -> Sinawik Loop -> Sinawik -> Sunset back up to the top.

If you're unfamiliar with Joaquin Miller, those are all intermediate trails with the exception of a short part of Cinderella that's a little more advanced.

Sunset is at 7:52, so we should have plenty of time to loop.

No drop. I'll have some beverages and snacks for afterward.

This is true. On the other hand, I've left a bunch of stuff in the back of my car 100+ times at various spots around JMP, and it's all been there when I've gotten back. On the OTHER other hand, I did see two cars with their windows popped two weekends ago at the lot at the top of Big Trees.

We're coming from the Central Valley (Modesto/Tracy area).

Thanks for organizing this, I'm not going to make it this week but I've got an opening in 2 weeks if it's still going. Looking forward to meeting and riding with some of the locals around here. I do prefer parking at the Ranger station though, tends to be safer with more foot traffic, and you end your ride at the bottom as opposed to having to climb back up. Just a thought.

You can park right at the trailhead on Skyline.

People park on the shoulder of the road on both sides near the trail head. Unless this turns out to be a huge group, there should be enough space on a weeknight.

If you park in the lots noted above, give yourself 15-20 minutes to pedal up to the meet point. Best way would be to climb Sunset Trail up to Sequoia Bayview, hang a right and stay on it to the trailhead.

Parking and whatnot

Glad to have folks coming out for the ride. Honored that people are coming from Modesto/Tracy to check out our little corner of the Redwoods.

My proposed loop is a good quick tour of the park. Depending on how quickly we finish it, we can go poke around in other people's favorite spots. There are a lot of nooks and crannies in JMP and Redwood Regional.

I've attached a little map. The darker green areas are good places to park. There's parking right next to the trailhead. Parking on the trailhead side is legal (left side if you're coming uphill). Parking on the right is technically illegal, but seems to serve as an overflow for when it's busy. I've never seen anyone ticketed for it.

If not, then park along Joaquin Miller Blvd or in the interior parking lot (green blob) and ride up Upper Palos Colorados or Sunset trails.

Or, park at what Google has labeled the Redwood Glen trailhead and ride the Big Trees trail (left fork from that parking lot) to the Sequoia Bayview trailhead.

But sadly I can't make this since tonight is back to school night. Couldn't make a ride there with friends last night either.

That was fun. Nice to meet some new people.

I rode up and climbed into the park on Bishop's Walk, so when the route got near there I peeled off for home. Next time I'll plan on staying with the group 'til the socializing after.

Thanks everyone for coming out, especially the folks who came all the way from the valley to sample our trails. Also, thanks for bringing other snacks. Bodes well for future rides.

Cinderella was dusty dusty dusty, but fun.

More in the future. Probably next Thursday as well.

One note -- Anyone should feel free to organize if I haven't. This should continue to happen, but I'm not going to be around every Thursday.

Important tip -- the crows in the tree above the picnic table at the trailhead will **** on you and your sandwiches to express their displeasure at your presence. We learned that tonight the hard way.

On the other hand, 0% of the people who attended had their cars broken into; a streak we intend to continue.

If you weren't there, you missed out on beer, cookies and sandwiches. Something to ponder.
