Took the X5 out this morning for the first time since October....and the first time with my newly tuned PUSHed Float (tuned from "trail" setting to "XC").
I tell you.....it is just cheating to use the X5. Granted, I did not do any technical riding but rather just super fast singletrack with some minor (2') drops and the such. Man...I forgot how fun it can be.
While it still felt like I had a flat tire (since I generally ride zero suspension most of the time now), I loved the newly PUSHed shock. I was able to stand on fireroad climbs and had minimal bob in higher gears.
Only downside was that over one of the few logs, I nicked my precious big chainring.....looks like I need to get a new carbon crankset now
actually, i am gonna put the FSA bash on that I have sitting at home since I dont see myself really need the big ring anyway.
It was pretty cold when I started....I think it was a couple degrees below room temperature at 8 o'clock so I had to bundle up in my windbreaker. By 9 o'clock I had to take it off cause I got too hot......just too much work to bike out here I tell yuh!
The ride was sort of close to the toilet of Southern California (ie, Los Angeles) but fortunately i did not go anywhere near it. Actually a great 12 mile loop on any bike....but is sure was nice to be reminded of how sweet the X5 is. I hope my wife gives me permission to ride again tomorrow....I may even take the X5 again!
unfortunately, i have to tell my kids once again that we will not be having a white Christmas
