ALL areas of the E side of the Zirkel Wilderness have been closed to human use due to hazardous dead trees.

This was the epicenter, after the Great Routt Blowdown, that spawned the beetle explosion that has killed off most of our pines.

I don't doubt, with the number of dead trees in the rest of the state, that most FS areas will be closing down as well, now that the precedence has been set. Maybe not this summer, but for many years to come. :madmax:

...and here I thought all those pines were just changing colors like the Aspen trees do.

Funny you ended the post with a flame EMO, cuz that's what gonna happen, unforetunately. They cant remove all the trees in the state. Most will burn... Maybe not this summer, but for many years to come.

There are NO Facilities at the TH's

It looks like only those particular trailhead facilities are closed while the dead trees are cleared from them. This doesn't mean ALL areas are closed.
They are just parking spots in the trees at the end of dead end road, the ONLY way in from the east. Close the TH's and you close the whole Wilderness on the E side.
