Is Ti 29er coming out any time soon?

872 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  fmorelli
We are one week from when depositors were told delivery would happen. Last time I asked BD I was told to join the mailing lists to get updates on the Ti 29er. Needless to say I've gotten no updates; a week or so out and I am concluding the date will not be met and information doesn't seem to be forthcoming in spite of asking.

Given Mike's good rep, I'll assume I'm falling between the cracks. Can someone else tell me when these bikes are being shipped? Did I miss the e-mail?

Thanks,

Filippo

Did you see the thread about the few 29TI's that were flown over while the rest are coming by ship?

How are you falling between the cracks when the bikes are supposed to ship on or before July 1st?

I can understand why you're ready to have your bike, but I don't understand why you expect an update before the bike was promised. The deposit/Payment/tracking number/email process seems to be outlined on the BD website.

The Process: When you order, your card is charged $200.01 to lock-in the $1795.99 price
(Balance due around 7/1/09 = $1595) Order confirmed by email, next business day. IE: Friday orders get an email Monday.
Wknds/Holidays do not count as "days" Prior to ship date, an email is sent requesting the ($1595.98)
Balance due paid by 7/5/09 or order will be cancelled
After we get your final balance due of $1595.98, the bike will ship by July 1st or earlier
The email contains a tracking number which will NOT show movement until July 1st or earlier

Read my note. I had asked for an update on ETA twice and was told to join the mailing list to receive updates. I've not seen any updates in spite of being told they'd be there. The falling between cracks was in regards to updates, not the bike itself.

I'm not sure why you think it's important that you understand anything I asked about. If you don't understand, then you are incapable of providing a response to my question. Your best bet is to focus somewhere that your replies can constructively contribute to the conversation instead of demonstrating your cluelessness by pointing me to the BD web site.

If anyone has heard specifics on Ti 29er ETA from BD, please post. I would appreciate any clues :)

Sailing date was May 26th
So the arrival should be in time for July 1st target {assuming customs does not slow container down}

As soon as we have delivery notice, we will send out the request for balances

I am very excited to get these bikes into the hands of riders

I continue to think this is the nicest XC 29er made and at half what others sell for

Thanks for your support
Mike
My response (in 6 words) was YOUR BIKE IS ON A BOAT.

Sorry, I figured that was the kind of update you're looking for.....

Maybe since you're signed up for email updates, and you haven't received an update.....then there is no update? Just maybe......

Thanks for the input, Mike. Sounds like we are in the zip code of July 1. That's what I was wondering since it we were close and mum was the word. Thanks for chiming in. We're all itching to get our hands on these. Heck I've got friends who are itching to see it come in.

Fillippo - I received my request for payment email, so that is a good sign!

Yes, and these are due to unload tomorrow [6/24/09] and I am very excited for people to get them and start posting their feedback and reveiws
I'm waiting with baited breath for the e-mail. I was one of the first orders, and also posted the availability of the bike on MTBR when it was announced.

Bike arrived yesterday. Mostly assembled. I have a bunch of parts in the stash going on. The bike came exactly as spec'd on the web site. I added Bontrager carbon fiber stem, bars and seatpost, along with Ergon GR2 carbon super light grips, Shimano XT SPD pedals. Since I'm going mostly hardpack, fire roads and gravel I plan to pull the Kenda Small Blocks and go with Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tires. The saddle, Skype Cr/Ti is 200 grams and pretty thin on padding. I may give it a whirl or stick one of my Terry saddles on the bike.

Packaging was perfect. Not a scrape and everything nicely protected. Having done plenty of welding in a past life, the Ti welds on this bike is artwork. It's definitely alot of bike for the $$$.

The ultimate test, saddle time, has yet to occur - I'll pass along observations, and take some photos in about a week.
