i put this together the other day. its pretty fast, I run out of gear, I kinda wish I would have put a road compact crankset on it instead, but, i guess its fast enough. I threw a wheel with a 35c tyre in the front and it fit fine. So what the heck is this thing? Is this a 29er? it rides alot different from my Pug (bike of choice lately). I keep kicking around the idea of getting an Orbea 29er. how would that Orbea be different than this Salsa?

No. It is a 26" mtb with 700c road wheels and tires.

The Orbea 29er with 29x2.1" knobbies will be as different from this setup as this bike with 26x2.1" knobbies is compared to your Pugsley.

Though I don't think you deserve to be chastized, I would agree that, no, that is most definitely not a 29er. The important thing is that you're yearning for it.
