That should be a good pad for you. I think one of the biggest issue with pad is they can scratch your down tube. I have a Dakine and my buddy just bought an evoc. His seems to have more padding and be softer at the top, that might help with scratching. That being said, I looked at the Yakima online (haven't seen one in person) and it looks like there is is some pretty good padding on it as well to help avoid scratching. The cleaner your down tube is when you load them the less chance of scratching. Enjoy the pad! I hope you get to ride lots!

Hey thanks.

I’ve used the Gatekeeper a few times and so far and it seems great. It has a nice padded channel that the down tube sits in. I think it might be neoprene. The strap has some of the same material. I also have a RideWrap kit on the bike frame, so that should help avoid scratches.
