Is the used market calming down where you're at?

Have noticed in recent weeks a lot of used bikes on Fbook Mktplace and craigslist prices gradually being marked down. I was sort of following a few bikes that have stuck around for a few weeks-- one has dropped from $1300 to $900, and the other two dropped to nearly half of the original asking price. One's gone so it may have sold.

I'm trying to sell a Specialized Roll "comfort" bike and can't give it away. Granted, not a high end mountain bike, but would have thought there'd be some interest. I'm asking half the 2020 new price--not even a ridiculous lowball offer haha

How's it in your neck of the woods?

I’ve been watching craigslist in my area and I’ve seen prices dropping and more being offered.

Similar around here. Some stay in the sport, many do not.

Hard to say. It still seems that things are priced pretty high.
Seems maybe a bit better this spring than the fall, but not by a huge amount.

as far as your situation... hard to say how the market is for that kind of bike. It looks like it was $800 for a Roll sport. I would think it would be an easy sell at half at $400, but what do I know

I'm seeing some newer used bikes now, and a cargo ship of old trash that the owners couldn't sell before. So many used bikes for sale I think buyers are over loaded by the amount of trash.

No change in my area (Toronto, Ont).
People are still asking $3000 for a 5 yrs old bike beat all to hell (IMO) that sold new for about the same.
Can't wait till it's all over and these clowns need to find another way to generate easy income.

Still seems to be high around here, but I really do not follow it closely.

Yep, I'm in Georgia and I'm seeing more and more bikes being listed on FB group pages. Still a tad high, but at least bikes are reentering the marketplace. Most seem like Covid buyers who made impulse purchases and realized that maybe mtb isn't for them, as most of these bikes are 20' and newer....and barely used.

Don't know, but I do know that there are not nearly as many people riding around, whether that be on the trails or just in some random neighborhood. That would seem to indicate that used prices should be coming down and availability going up, at least eventually. New bikes are a whole different ballgame.

It depends on the bike and I'll be doing another test this weekend listing Kona Sutra Ltd I know the shops can't supply.

Bay Area. Lots of junk still being posted. Lots of ancient stuff still being listed for unrealistic prices. You need to use filters to weed all of this stuff out.

Lots of people asking for unreasonable prices (higher than a new bike) despite being 1-5 years old. Haven’t seen a “deal” out there... or if there is one it gets scooped up quickly and I don’t see it.

Dude's still asking over $200 for some janky old road bike that he 100% rattle canned everything black; bar tape, saddle, dork disc, etc.

He says the condition is "excellent".

Just realized he's got two of them, one's a downtube shifter and the other a stem shifter.

haven't been paying attention to bike listings, but I HAVE noticed that traffic levels on local trails has dropped off.
It's better but still common to see 400$ bikes for 2000

29" SE big mountain for $250.. seems like a good deal to me, and I'm assuming they could be talked down a bit

Lots of junk- yes. The good stuff...no change. I just picked up a like-new Trek Farley today and had to drive to Aspen!! It was the only one I could find. Thank goodness it is hardly used. New is maybe $3,600 and I was lucky to get $500 off (plus saved the tax).

SoCal here...I just sold a 2020 Rockhopper Comp 1x for $700. I bought it new for $730. They didnt haggle and it was the first to respond to the ad. Pretty amazing actually. I probably could have asked for more.

Sounds a bit hyperbolic to me. I haven't seen anything like that here. What I had seen previously, was 2 year old bikes selling for new prices (or close to it). I doubt there are a lot of $400 bikes selling for 5x their value, I find that hard to believe.
