Is pedal kickback a issue on the 2021/2 Trail 429 and i9 Hydra hubs due to the instant engagement? If so fix?

Trying to know what I am getting into, and prepare before I buy, and can’t make the change.
Without needless cost.
Thank yo.

Have had several sets of Hydra hubs on different frames including some DW Link frames and never noticed any pedal kickback
I’ll be the contrarian here and say I do notice…something…different when riding my switchblade with my wheelset with hydras vs my wheelset with DT 350s. An extra touch of harshness coming through the pedals in certain scenarios, almost. Usually coasting through rough New England jank at slower speeds or generally when pedaling over rougher stuff in bigger gears. Don’t notice it at higher speeds and smaller gears at all. Is it kickback? In my head? Not sure and I’m not a suspension expert. I don’t sweat it because the higher engagement feels incredible and is totally worth any tiny tradeoff in pedal harshness.

Never an issue on my DW link Ripley V4 and Hydras.

Even through tons of North East chunk.

No, just ride it. Rinse and repeat. :)

Can we talk etiquette here for a quick sec? Individual threads with really long titles are really clogging up the page here. Maybe try asking your questions in the 429 thread instead of creating a new thread every time you have a question.

Thank you!

Maybe you didn’t read what I posted or where I posted, or both???
Is this not the Pivot forum???. That is the title at the top of this section of the forum. My question is about a Pivot bike. Seems logical to me.
I do not understand your comment at all. Could you logically explain it to us? Should I have posted it in the climate change forum? Or maybe the how to eat Tide capsules challenge?
Yes I could have posted every single part in a different forum if there is one titled as such: Hayes, Reynolds, Sapim, Indusrty Nine, Fox, suspension, the rider forum, etc.
What is the definition of a forum, in your mind?

From The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.
  1. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
  2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
  3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

It´s just pretty easy: There are at least two threads for the Pivot Trail 429, where you can ask and get info, instead of starting new threads per question in this forum. It just helps to keep it specific to one bike series - and for an overall overview due to topics. Hope that helps. :)

No need to get defensive. Find the thread titled Pivot Trail 429 and ask your questions there, where there are people who know and care about the bike you're asking about. It's a simple courtesy, not an affront to your liberties.

Eh - I don’t see an issue. Those threads have lots of info & get pretty ‘side-tracked’ - easy to get lost in them. It’s not like there’s tons of new posts / subjects anyway. I say lay off the OP…

I think it’s better to ask specific questions in separate threads like this. It’s way more courteous. Those single threads with 1000+ posts with every topic ever and every tangent are beyond worthless.

Errrrr ... I don´t own a Pivot either ... 😅😂
But seriously - Transition Spur or Pivot Trail 429 are on top of my list of dreambikes. And therefor have spend a good amount of hours reading through both complete Trail 429 (V3) threads here ... puh ... 😬🤓
Plenty of info to help with my decision. (y)🤗

You're right, I shouldn't have taken a swipe at Pivot.

I'm glad I don't know you.

New Threads are great for finding topics through future search. Do you guys not use folders on your computer? Look at all the tangents this thread took. If anything, that is one of the least helpful things you can do in a thread. Sorry, but this is a bizarre criticism of OP.

Y'all, my apologies to the OP. The thing I politely asked about is common etiquette in other bike forums I've participated in, and I mistakenly thought it was the case here as well. Clearly it landed poorly and isn't how things are done in this community. I'm sorry that I got it wrong, sincerely.

The rest of y'all—I've been called stupid, a jackass, and so on. Someone dredged up this thread a week after the fact to start digging in. Look at yourselves. It's lame.

I thought new questions were supposed (preferred) to start a new thread?
