I need new brakes pronto. Do bike retailers historically offer sales for Memorial Day, or should I just buy now?
Backcountry likes to run 20% off when REI does. Can buy front REI, rear BC.REI has a huge Memorial sale. 20% off one item though so you'd still be paying full pop for one of the brakes.
With REI it's always "20% off one full priced item". With brakes, depending on what you're looking for, Jenson has permanently lower prices on things like SLX and XT (Jenson $95 m8000, REI $123 m8000) so the 20% off sale just doesn't get you anywhere.REI has a huge Memorial sale. 20% off one item though so you'd still be paying full pop for one of the brakes.
I've only seen 20% off at REI during sales. They normally do apply 10% of FULL PRICE items toward your end of year dividend, though. With REI it's always "20% off one full priced item". $80 for slx at Jenson! (M7000)Seems like we're in a nonstop sale event somewhere.
You can get SLX brakes for about 90-100 shipped year round. Its a pretty good deal.
Better get them now. Starting In June Shimano will no longer allow overseas retailers to ship to the US.merlin cycles always has good pricing on shimano brakes

Yes, especially appliances.Pretty sure every retailer uses any holiday as an excuse for a sale.
Just as a reminder, Memorial Day is for those who have died for this country.
Anyone know if they ship these with rear lever on left side (isn't that a European thing)? Curious if I'd have to switch that.merlin cycles always has good pricing on shimano brakes

probably, but you have to resize the hoses anyway so not a big deal just swap them and adjust the sizeAnyone know if they ship these with rear lever on left side (isn't that a European thing)? Curious if I'd have to switch that.
no you don't have to. right rear comes with 1700mm hose, left front with 900 i thinkAnyone know if they ship these with rear lever on left side (isn't that a European thing)? Curious if I'd have to switch that.

Thanks for the heads up. Grabbed the Mt501/MT520 pair for ~$140 shipped. I doubt it'll get much lower for a set of 4-pots.Better get them now. Starting In June Shimano will no longer allow overseas retailers to ship to the US.

Meh, between Jenson and Backcountry, there's almost always a similar deal on Shimano stuff here in the US.Better get them now. Starting In June Shimano will no longer allow overseas retailers to ship to the US.

their extra 10% make it a good deal compared to current prices in the US, but I'm sure it will come down since I'm not really confident they are selling as much as they thought they would, too late to the party and with sram now releasing the axs it's hard to justify going shimano over eagle that can later be upgraded to axs once prices go downMeh, between Jenson and Backcountry, there's almost always a similar deal on Shimano stuff here in the US.
