The Intermontane Challenge is in top gear. The race’s ‘Ultra Early Registration’ has closed as of Boxing Day. The early bird is set to close at the end of January. We had a good response to the promotion. The race is in winter mode right now. Our course is waiting for approval from the provincial government which puts us months ahead of last year’s race. With the addition of Colin Morris to our race team, we are getting the safety side of the race set. Risk management, first aid requirements on the new course and accident response all are being set up as the snow sits on the ground.
2010’s race will be set in the same ‘clover leaf’ format as in 2009. The major change will be an addition of a rest day on July 29. This day will see the race get a tour of some of the best single track trails in Kamloops. These trails would not work for the race for reasons mainly to do with land ownership. With permission of the land owners, we will guide our racers through these trails and finish off the ride with an inner tube float down the South Thompson River and finish at Riverside Park in downtown Kamloops. This will be a great way to see some of Kamloops that the race can’t get to.
We should be receiving approval for the first stages of the race within the next few months and as soon as we have approval we will get them out there.
