that could indeed be a '96 but its far from the advertised 3.5" of travel. those are the original short 2.5" black rockers from what i can see. theres a polished 3.6" set but availability might be kinda tough as those havent been made since '95 i think. the good news is the newer generation 3.6" xce or 4" xr rockers will work if ya need more travel and im one who think ya will. my '96 is still goin strong although ive recently rebuilt it to 2.5" '99 spec and retired it. now i ride the '05 flux as my main xc rig and the '02 rfx for bigger stuff. someone just might get damn lucky on this one. i wonder what the serial number is? by the way the float r is a far better damper than the original alps 4 r. ive run several on mine including a rl on its last ride. night and day.

could be right joker. i looked again and mine are a bit diff. they dont have the laidback "t" like yers and the one above do. i remember those showin up in '97 or '98, maybe the 1st year of the xce. dt was all excited about the look of em. a friend of his was there one day while he was on the cad back in the colorado days and suggested he lay it back some to replicate the turner logo. the rest is history. if thats the case then i kinda doubt its a '96 or at least '96 rockers. those im still pretty damn sure were 2.5" but you know me, im usually wrong about these things. hehe.
