As a mechanical engineer, I often get the opportunity to visit machine shops that we do or plan on doing business with. I'd heard that the shop we were checking out today used to make all the parts for Ringle prior to the Sun acquisition.
Sure enough, entered the foyer ofthe shop and there was a selection of red, purple, and black anodized stems and hubs sitting in the display case. After the obligatory tour, I asked the manager about them. He explained that they did some brisk business for Ringle before he was purchased by Sun, who sent everything overseas. He was happy to talk about the parts, even pointing out the first Ringle machined billet stem prototype, anodized purple, of course.
Pretty cool stuff - JMJ
