I was browsing the interbike website and noted that there's an interbike show going on at Las Vegas during the week of October 4th. Basically, October 4th and 5th are scheduled for the interbike outdoor demo and the October 6th thru 8th si scheduled for the interbike expo.

Can someone help and elaborate on the difference between the two intebike events?

Thanks.

The outdoor expo is held...Outdoors!!
It's to give a chance for dealers/distributors/press/insiders/special guests/etc to get a chance to ride basically all the new products that come out. There are riding areas set up to try out the products in the real world. Road bikes/MTB bikes/Track bikes/Trials bikes/Rims/Wheels/Hubs/Shoes/etc etc etc.

It's mostly a new-frame love fest, but you can get real life experiances with new pedals/stems/saddles/etc

The main expo is held in a big convention hall, with lots of ass-kissing, shmoozing, illegal picture taking, and some booth babes.
You'll see all manner of bicycling products, from good to bad to ugly, and back to beautiful and functional.

Bike shops that are NBDA members can get passes for free/cheap, ask them if they'll get you one of their passes, otherwise it's gonna be hard for you to get in probably.

Which of the two events is open to the public and do you know how much is the ticket?

Neither is open to the public.

Retailers, distributors, importers, and exporters are allowed in.

Media, ad agencies, consultants, etc are allowed in, but they have to adhere to a strict set of rules, and they have to pony up $200. They must also have valid credentials. Just starting an online bike web-page and calling yourself a reporter will not get you media access.

The easiest way to get in, is to go to your local NBDA member bike shop and just ask them if you can have or purchase one of their passes.
