We first learned of the new 27.5 (aka 650b) bikes from Intense Cycles right before the Sea Otter Classic this past April. Since that time, Intense has been busy with not just one 27.5" wheeled bike, but two! The Intense Tracer 275 and the Carbine 275 are two of the hottest bikes currently available. The Tracer 275 was a "natural progression" of the popular Tracer 2 and keeping a close ear to the ground, Intense Cycles founder Jeff Steber decided to jump full force into the 27.5/650b arena. Sometimes being the "small" guy pays off, since they are able to produce rideable prototypes and end products faster than a bike built and developed overseas.

"One of the advantages of having our own factory on-site is that we can put plans into motion right away," says Steber. " I can visualize it and can make the first prototypes a reality within a very short window."

The Tracer 275 is a 5.5-6" travel, aluminum all mountain bike featuring 17" chainstays , a 13.3" bottom bracket, cable routing for RockShox's stealth reverb dropper post, Intense's G1 replaceable dropout system and a modified geometry 67 degree head angle. Best of all, the Intense Tracer 275 is made in their factory in Temecula , California, U.S.A. The bike comes in 3 sizes (SM, MD, LG) and 4 stock colors (Works Raw, Intense Red, Flo Green, Black Chrome) plus a custom option.

We received the Tracer 275 in Flo Green color a few weeks ago and have been enjoying the initial testing on Norcal's finest singletrack as well as choice Oregon dirt (and snow!) Our test bike weighed in at 32.47 lbs with a RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper post (and without pedals). Our build featured: Shimano XT drivetrain, XT brakes, Novatec Diablo 275 wheels, Kenda Nevegal 275 Tires, Fox Racing Shox 34 Float CTD (w/Kashima coat) and Fox Float CTD adjustable rear shock (w/Kashima coat). The Rock Shox Reverb Stealth dropper post with internal cable routing is a nice touch. Pricing is $2,269.00 for the frame and Fox Float CTD Adjust XV Kashima rear shock. The Cane Creek Double Barrel Air is also an available option (for about $250.00 more). The Tracer 275 is available at your local Intense Cycles dealers right now.

We will be doing an in-depth write-up on the Intense Tracer 275 and comparing it to other 650b/27.5 bikes, but for now, here are a few pix.
