Installing bottom bracket?

Ok guys this was my first time installing a BB.

Components, Shimano M960 Cranks(2002), M952 BB

So here is my question, when I took the original apart I did not pay attention to which side the washer/spacer goes on. Does the washer go on the drive side or the non-drive side.

This is going on a Blur, I wanted to get some input before I made a guess.

PS. Bike shops have been no help on this one for some reason.

Thanxs

Didn't it come with instructions? Pretty sad that the bike shop was of no help.

With your spindle length and shell width, the chart tells you where the spacers should go.

Thanks for the link,

So here is another one, I am using a Shimano XT Front Derailer, would this be considered to have the same specs as the FD M952-E mentioned in the link?

As far as the instructions, I bought a the Blur and am swaping parts from another bike so i do not have any.

The bike shops I called for some reason just wanted me to bring the bike in, dont know why they could not just answer the question, oh well.

Thanks

The "-E" indicated that it's an "E Bracket" Derailleur. E-types mount to the BB, not to the seat tube. http://www.shimano-europe.com/cycling/phpimages/product/exp_view/FD_M952_.E.pdf
You probably don't have that type.

The M952 is an XTR top swing derailleur.

The M953 is an XTR bottom swing derailleur

Figure out if your XT derailleur is top or bottom swing and it should be the same as the XTR.

Ahhh, gotcha. Bike shops are kinda like auto shops. They make their money off of working on your stuff and aren't keen on giving out info over the phone.

Hi,

Saw your post. If you still need bottom bracket info length go here.

Chainline is measured from middle of BB shell to middle chainring. Hope this helps.
Since the M960 is an external type, would be interesting to see how an M952 bb was mated up to this crankset....
