620 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  lgh
just got my first new wheelset in the mail today and the rim strips didnt come installed, are there any tricks to installing the rimstrips on the rim?

If it matters they are 26" Mavic 223 Rims on LX hubs.
Thanks for the help

I wouldn't even use 'em. Instead use rim tape. Stays in place much better. Any bike shop will have it.

that looks like what came with the rims but how do i install them?
Is what came with the rims sticky backed? If not then it isn't tape. The tape you just stick into the center of the rim, lining up the hole in the tape with the valve stem hole. That's all there is to it.

Look closely at that role of tape. You will notice there is a hole. line the hole on the tape up with the valve hole on the wheel. Continue to apply tape all away around the wheel, covering spoke holes and nipples.

And hold in place with pencil pushed into valve stem hole. Wrap tight. Use Velox.
