I know everybody is sick of hearing about Lance Armstrong but I thought you were innocent until proven guilty! This poor guy has passed every drug test that he's been given and yet people still don't believe him. There is no evidence to support that he is doping only rumers so drop it!! You ever notice when your the best people try and pick you apart.Jealousy is a evil thing. WHAT WE REALLY ARE MATTERS MORE THAN WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF US..

yeah, but in France....

......the justice system is a bit different. That is, you are guilty until you can prove yourself innocent.

who cares. Kinda funny that a person with the name "addict" is up in arms about somene elses useage.
Too funny. Good observation.

Yeah this Lance doping talk is getting kinda ridiculous. I had a feeling a lot of doping allegations would inevitably start flying left and right if he won a record 6th Tour.

Kinda like Millie Vanilli. No one questioned them til they won the Grammy. Then all hell broke loose. ;)

If Lance wins, let's see if he was lip synching all this time.

actually no one questioned vanilli even after they won the grammy. it was when their dumbass tape skipped in concert that they got busted. but then again, pop performers don't have singing tests like athletes have drug tests.

lance hasn't "passed every drug test that he's been given". He tested positive for a corticosteroid on the banned substances list in '99 but they made it go away with the explanation that it was due to his use of a particular saddle cream. weak? you decide. and there's the whole actovegin thing, while that didn't lead to a + test, they never really explained very well why the team dr. was carrying the stuff and why they were compelled to covertly dipose of the syringes and empty bottles. and there's the former dr./former team mate/former masseuse and assistant making claims contrary to what LA says. and there's his unfortunate association with dr. ferarri who is now facing a doping investigation. all that taken in totality it's cause to question what he was up to a few years ago, if not more recently. You've got to remember, millar never failed a test and Pantani really never failed a test per se and every drug/fraud charge brought against him was ended in his favor. yet both clearly used. it's not as simple as saying "he's been tested, hasn't failed-so he must be clean."

Yeah, but...

Do you really think that someone who has cheated death once would be disposed to polluting his body with some of that stuff? I don't know, but I like to believe they wouldn't. I know I wouldn't!

What We Really Are Matters More Than What People Think Of Us..

don't think it's a factor

the "stuff" he's most likely to have used/been using is epo. it's not like he's shooting heroin with dirty needles. it's a commonly prescribed drug. I think LA would do whatever possible to win, or at least early in his comeback that was the case imho.

Getting over whenever possible...

To me it seems like elite cycling and doping are like NASCAR and cheating...one driver had made the comment something to the effect of "it's up to us to get away with whatever we can, and it's up to the officials to try and catch us."

Not saying either is right or wrong to do, nor that using banned performance enhancers on a human is equal to using banned parts on a racecar.

I have to agree with LoneStar. Who would cheat death by going through intensive chemotherapy only to pollute ones body with questionable drugs? Lance is a stud. He trains harder, better, and more than anyone else. Take today's time trial. He rode that route for an entire week, doing as many as 4 ascents a day to master the curves, develop his strategy, and determine his pace. His hard work pays dividends in the form of yellow jerseys and kisses on the cheek from oversized French broads. He's an American dominating the French in their national spectacle. That is inviting whinning from the Frogs. I cannot fathom the possibility that Lance would survive the hell that is battling cancer only to cheat his way to glory. The two are incongruous. I don't buy it. FUD, it's all yours...

you're entitled to your opinion. I don't think for the moment anyone really knows outside Lance and his circle wheter he's clean. For me, there's just been too many different people making allegations to patently dismiss them all as vengeful exteamates, doctors, assistants/masseuses, grumpy former tour winners, writers with an axe to grind... etc. If this were a criminal case in the US, he'd be looking at an indictment. FWIW, I don't think the fact that he survived cancer or that he's racing in France has anything at all to do with the issue of his doping. Alot of riders dope, few die from it. He's uber competitive and, imho, would do whatever he could get away with to win.

here is a thought or two - he doesn't say "i have never used performance enhancing drugs" becuase if he says that someone will call him a liar because he took epo while recovering from cancer which only benefitted him in his quest for life.

also - maybe he makes his teammates use drugs to be able to keep up and set the sick pace they do almost every day - Floyd looked like a man possessed yesterday.

who knows, but i just have a hard time believing it...once again if he tests positive thats different....but its easy to make allegations without really any proof with no repercussions. there is no way he told Lemond anything...he ain't dumb.

Lest we forget

Money is a powerful motivator. There are a lot of people looking to bust Lance. I'm sure a case could be made that many of the people making the allegations may be financially rewarded for doing so. Hey, look at all the air play it gets now, not to mention the books and magazines it sells!

you might be able to make that argument for the authors of LA Confidential, the book that seems to have uncorked this again. The more press it gets...obviously the better for them. the others though, they got nothing to gain. lots to lose. emma oreiley, the ex-seigneur, got nothing but grief out of the deal. the doctor who claims he left postal shortly before lance arrived because he was pressured to dope riders gets nothing out of it. he's the team dr. for Healthnet now so he's still in "the family" and has that pressure. Lemond certainly has nothing to gain by beating the drum. he's gotta know there's jabronis out there that would decide not to buy a Lemond bike now. his former team mate at motorola, he's not selling anything-nothing to gain. The only people with a financial interest are the authors of the book...and...wait for it...lance and postal. the've got alot to lose were it to be made known that epo was a big part of his recovery. it would ruin him. look what it did to pantani. look what its doing to millar.
