Found this bike on costco online : Fezzari Wiki Peak Comp
The components seem to be decent.
I have not seen any review of this bike yet.

Anybody with info or who owns or who can comment.

Some good, some bad

The bike has a mix of mid-to low end components. The Deore derailleur, Truvative cranks and bb, and the saddle and tires are probably the best components on the bike. The Marzocchi fork is OK, and the rear shock is probably suspect. I've used the tektro disc brakes, and for a light rider (sub 150 lbs), they will siffice, IMO. Headset and hubs are probably OEM with Fezzari's name on them so there's no telling who makes them or if they're any good.

All in all it's hard to say if the bike is good. The biggest concern would be the quality of the frame construction and welds. My inclination is that you're probably better off with a bike from an LBS. With that said, at the right price (say $750), I'd give this bike a look, knowing I'd have $4-500 in upgrades.

I'm sure others have input here.

This bike sells for $650 at COSTCO on line.
Do you think I can find a better deal from a local bike specialist (I guess that what LBS stans for local bike specialist ).
I might give it a try, even if I have to upgrade the rear shock and the disc brakes this should still be a good deal (no more than $1000).

I would go to the local Costco and see if they have any on the floor to demo. Fit is going to be extremely important. If the bike doesn't fit and feel right, then you won't ride it. This is the biggest disadvantage in purchasing online. With that said, I've ordered bikes twice online this year and was very fortunate in that my sizing calculations were correct. If you can't demo the bike, just be sure you can either return it for a refund or exchange it. My understanding is that Costco is excellent in this respect.

As for LBS-you were close. It's Local Bike Store

read the 1st post on "Dept Store Bikes" the whole thing applies to the frame. In order to sell some quality parts like Shimano/Marzocchi etc., you gotta cut corners for costs somewhere. that's why its a Fizzlango or whatever frame.

I checked the Fizzilango website and would caution the shock is unknown (how do you fix it if it breaks), and worse, the rear dérailleur hanger...break yours off and you must wait until they send you a new one...assuming they actually do. If not, your bike is useless.

IMHO it's a risky purchase for a beginner. Just my .02

Get your @$$ to an LBS and get fitted correctly ...it's THE most important part of a bike purchase.

Well at one point I said I'd never heard of Ibex, but Fezzari's an unknown to me. The rear shock is an Apro? What the heck is that? Be nice if you could get get a well assembled bike to test but I sure as hell wouldn't trust Costco to do that (unless the Costco you've got goes out of their way to hire a good bike assembler); maybe you could contact Fezzari for your chances on a test ride. Even though the Fezzari has a limited lifetime warranty, I wonder how fun it would be to test that.

Otherwise I vote for the LBS route, with a nice big brand name and warranty.

I sent an email to Fezzari to get some info on the derailleur hanger and the rear shock which seem to be the risky components. If they could eventually be replaced with known hardware, this could become a pretty decent deal.
I have been playing with bikes a lot, but it was a long time ago (kind of getting an old F..t now ) when mountain bike technology was not there yet. I don't mind rigging and aligning bikes and that's what I have been doing a lot on "el cheapo bikes" (from WM) I am riding with my kid in the back country around Phoenix. They are not good bikes but I try to keep them safe and they give me a good workout going uphill .
If I could get a good deal on a dual suspension bike, I would not mind spending a few hours rigging and checking it before riding.
BTW, Costco is pretty good with return. If it does not fit, they take it back. So it should be a low risk anyway, just a question of time driving back and forth to the shop and making sure that if I keep it, I can get spare parts.

good feed back from Fezzari

As said in the previous post, I sent an email to Fezzari to get more info.

1) I am impressed by how fast they answered my emails. This is refreshing to see a company that is fast at answering potential customer questions. I did not come back sooner to the forum because their frame technician only came back today. He was needed for the hanger interchangeability question. But I got all my other questions answered right away.

2) Botom line on parts : the only part, beside the frame, which is not directly interchangeable with other vendors parts is the derailleur hanger. However, they have it in stock and it costs less than $10.

I am ready to jump on this one (might buy a couple of derailleur hanger, just in case ) as I think it is a lot of bike for $650.
I will always be able to upgrade some components later.

FEZZARI seems to use KHS frames

From an other post on this forum, I understand the frame is a KHS.
Does it make this better ?
