I can find a Tange 26/29" canti fork for $33 at Outside Outfitters... anyone have experience with either Tange or Outside Outfitters?

I've also found Surly 1x1 forks for around $60.

For suspension, a Rockshox Dart 1 runs around $85 or a Suntour XCM runs $65, but I haven't used anything Rockshox in some time and have never used Suntour. Would it be at all worth it to get one of these, or are they too low on the totem pole to be worth bothering with?

I would run a good rigid fork before I even considered a cheap suspension fork...cheap suspension forks are pogo sticks and complete garbage.

I've had a Tange fork many years ago (circa '97) and it rode very nice with some compliance. Tange is top quality Cro-Mo tubing so I wouldn't shy away from one again.

You can get a Mosso aluminium or carbon wrapped al fork off ebay for $40-90. They'll clear up to a 27.5 x 2.35 as well and can be had as rim/disc or disc only brake options.

Look used too.

There are are good deals out there. Some are barely used and will come in nice and cheap.
