Industry Nine wheelset opinions?

688 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  b00001
Im having a bit of a dilema with choosing a wheelset for the upcoming race season. Im looking for a wheelset thats strong, light and tubeless. A buddy at the LBS suggested I give Industry Nine a go when I mentioned Ive been looking at Fulcrum Metal Zeros. Theyll be going on my 09 Epic Expert Carbon.

My questions are:

1. Should I go with the Ultralites or Ultralite Race? I spent the last 2 years powerlifting and Im 5'11 174lbs. I should be back down to about 165lbs for race season.

2. How do you like the wheelet if youve owned or ridden a pair? Ive heard customer support is awesome but getting the rims can take a while.

Cheers!

ive got a set of the ultralites 29er. they came in at 1540g IIRC. they seem strong as hell, they look great but expect to wait a long time for them. i was told 4-5 weeks and it ended up taking 13 weeks.
Kinda of a stupid question, but dose the freewheel sound get anoying after a while? Im all for a bit of a buzz, but the one I spun in the back of the shop were probably the loudest freewheel Ive EVER heard. They put the Fulcrum Racing 1's on my old Tarmac to shame

If you grease them they quiet down pretty good. Without the grease they are loud.
I actually HAVE a set of their 29er Race wheels (Stan's Race rim). While very light, at least the rear rim is like riding on paper mache. Every time I race, there is a new dent in the rim. So make your rim choice wisely. If you are going to run these rims only for races, you MIGHT get a season out of them. I am 147lbs and try to ride as soft as I can on these wheels. I will be swapping rims to their new Crest soon. That may be the ticket. Good luck!
