Anyone else on rollers during winter? :D Just got the slicks back on the Crosscheck and rollerated for a half hour... the first time I've been on that bike in over a year what with the preggo belly impeding drop-bar riding this past season.

I'd love to say it's rare to get that adventure-danger feeling in my kitchen otherwise, but I've been known to test the kitchen smoke alarm more than twice a year. :p

No rollers for me, so you rock for riding 30mins, I do bike on the trainer and gosh I just can't get over the hate factor I have for indoor riding. It sucks. But I must ride cause the weather is changing in Colorado for the weekend.

A Crosscheck, eh?

Is it fixed? Any chance you have a velodrome nearby? We used to do rollers, but a track just opened about an hour away from us, and frankly, it is worth a once-a-week trip. It is awesome ... I'm raving about it to everybody.

I wasn't a big fan of rollers to begin with, and especially now that I've discovered the track, it is my preferred indoor technical road riding. I am selling off possessions as we speak to try and swing a new track bike. Those Bianchis are shiny.

Besides, Mrs. Kept's biomechanist lab comrades all recommend cutting down on cycling in the off-season if you can ... something about cycling being bad for your lower back and your hip joints - unfriendly positions and poor range of motion.

Go track and you won't go back.

Um... the closest velodrome is 100 miles over a mountain pass currently getting work for rock slides and now periodic avelanche control. I'll leave you to it. :)

Most years I'm into serveral hundred miles on a dog team by now and would be XC skiing/skijoring as often as our schedule and energy allowed. However, this year a baby has seriously impinged on the training scheme, so I've set up the rollers for rain, ice, etc. days. However, with the snow coming down right now it looks like I'll be able to go skiing out the front door tonight!!!!!

... so, maybe you should only go every two weeks?

A dog team, like, a team of dogs pulling a sled? The standard joke about what we Canadian kids would beg our parents to take out on Saturday night? Cool! My dad's husky is actually a former sled dog. She's lovely, but lazy. Even I can outrun her these days, which is saying something.

Have fun skiing. We're hoping to do an xc trip with friends before Christmas - it's been a while for me. Several friends have new babies, and the time commitment is staggering to me. Much respect for the new parents.
