Does anyone know if M730 6-speed shifters will work (with indexing) with a 6-speed Shimano freewheel, as opposed to a cassette? All the 6-speed Shimano-equipped indexing bikes I've had used a freehub/cassette. This relates to my upcoming wheel purchase for the Paramountain.

Yes, they will. I've run 6-speed XT shifters with many Shimano freewheels. I think most of them have been Uniglides.
