I own a Giant Warp DS1 '03. American Spec.
I'm in love with it... I've been doing some math and I realized I could have a terrific bike just making some "unsensible" upgrades.
I'll keep the Avids. But I'll go for a 7" rotor up front. The Manitou Axel will fly away and a Zoke MX Comp w/ETA will take over in the suspension duties. At the rear end, I'll get either a Romic or will PUSH a Vanilla R (If I can find one in 7.5X2 as needed).
Some parts in the cokpit will be ligther and a Deore crankset with octalink will take cranking job. FD will go away to fit a LX or Deore. Some SRAM RD, Chain, and shifters should be cool too but the drivetrain will be replaced only as parts die. Current works fine.
I'd like XT hubs with Mavic Disc-specific rims and some Stan's No tubes down in the rubber. I know this is by far more expensive than the whole bike but I find it dificult to find a better ride here in Mexico and with a wife and baby coming into my life a full bike (better than the Warp) is out of thinking.
I'm light both riding and in weight so the frame seems like able to withstand some seasons...
What do you think??
