IMBA Wild Ride at Grouse Ridge
Come ride some of California's best singletrack!
August 7-8, 2004 - REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and Pearl Izumi Factory Outlet Stores of Northern California will host a Wild Ride at Grouse Ridge on August 7-8, 2004. This weekend-long event will feature two rides on fantastic High Sierra trails that face closure to bicycles due to potential Wilderness designation.

On each day, we'll ride great singletrack with incredible vistas and challenging, fun technical sections. No trailwork, just great rides! If you join us for both days, camping is nearby, primitive (no facilities or toilets) and requires no reservations. Rider registration, however, is required. To register, go here:

On both days, the rides start at 9:30AM sharp. Meet at the Grouse Ridge Lookout/Campground (see directions below).

Grouse Ridge is west of Donner Summit near the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 20. It features some of the best riding in the state. For more information about the area and trails there, click here:

This event is part of the IMBA Wild Ride program. This series of events gives mountain bikers the opportunity to ride important California trails that are threatened with Wilderness closures.

DIRECTIONS: Here is a map of the area (PDF):

From I80, take Highway 20 West. After 4-5 miles, take a right on Bowman Lake Road (look for the Sierra Discovery Trailhead sign). This turn is easy to miss, so watch carefully for it.

Follow Bowman Lake Road for about 5-6 miles. Take a right at the sign for the Grouse Ridge Lookout/Camppground (Road 14). Follow this all the way to Grouse Ridge Lookout/Campground Area.

CAMPING: Camping is primitive and requires no reservation. There is an unfiltered water source near the campground, so bring your filter.
