I just sent him $550 through paypal. he knocked a few bucks off because I chose F&F. Should get a tracking number when he ships it.

He sent a pic of the odometer, it's actually 8.9 miles.

So did I.

If only it had been a XXL with less than 5 miles on the odometer...

Same one is on my local CL, image flipped. They said it was a 27.5 Tallboy so I flagged it, lol.

Not 100% sure what the deal is but somebody or somebodies have been running very similar ads in CL all over the country for a good while. Always Santa Cruz, always $600, always a number to text and lots of weird stuff probably pasted together from different ads. I think maybe they are just collecting cell numbers for spam lists or something.

$600 is key.
Always be suspicious of any bike on CL that's listed at $600.

I assumed it was a scam. I rarely buy anything from CL unless its local and I can pick it up local. I learned lesson with a boat deal too good to be true many moons ago. Didn't try to buy or lose any $$ but it led to my email getting hacked I'm pretty sure. Honestly I just look through CL for laughs at so many scam ads.
For y'all that do buy online places, is FB marketplace more legit? Probably won't matter for me. Never been on FB and do not plan on it.

it's probably some sort of escrow scam or similar where they use a fake 3rd party to hold funds.

The price was recently lowered to $550. He must be having trouble selling it for $600.

Had the exact same ad in our Metro Detroit listings.
