You got my hopes up until I read "folding bikes in a bag".
And the fact that it "will be treated like any checked bag" is exactly why I bought a huge hard case and willingly pay for it.
I wonder what their fee is? I'll have to do some searching.

same as all the others

Sporting equipment accepted with an additional service charge
The following equipment will be accepted as checked baggage, and will be included
as part of your baggage allowance: bicycles, surfing equipment, and windsurfing
equipment. These items will be subject to a charge whether or not presented as a
single piece, but are exempt from an additional oversize fee.

Please note: Sporting goods/equipment will only be accepted for transportation
at the customer's own risk. JetBlue Airways will not be liable in the event that the item
is damaged, lost, or spoiled upon arrival.

See specific information for each item of sporting equipment.
