Ideas for MTB trip in Arkansas/Tennessee?

A few friends and I from Wisconsin are looking for mountain bike trip ideas in Arkansas. We're mostly looking for good single track/technical riding, within riding distance of cabin or camping sites, preferably with showering facilities. The bigger the hills the better. We plan on arriving late May to early June.

Any ideas/websites would be greatly appreciated.

You could go to Eureka Springs. Call Robert at the Tall pines Inn. (Google it for the number) He is an avid MTBer. He will tell you where all the best trails are. ( Lake Leatherwood is an awesome ride) Technical singletrack, downhills so steep they'll make your butt pucker, and all under the canopy of trees so it's not too hot.

You need to check out the Syllamo trails outside of Mountain View AR. You can ride from the campground at Blanchard Springs Caverns to one of the trail heads or drive to some of the others. There are 50 miles of single track to explore. Here's a link to the official website.

In may the Syllamo's Revenge race occurs, all 50 miles at a time. You can look at their race map to plan some routes.

Anglers Inn is a good place for some greasy post race food, catfish is their specialty.

As far as Tennessee riding, it's a long way from the Ozarks in AR to any hills in TN. I can recommend some good trails in Memphis if you are interested though.

This should keep you busy for a while...

depending on how long your staying, definately hit the womble (mt. ida, ark), then several great trails around hot springs (and hot springs is an awesome town, too) www.mtbark.com a very helpful website. Never ridden Syllamo, but heard great things. Womble is a can't miss for arkansas, though. It's a LONG out and back, but the canoe rental people shuttle mtb'ers too; some very nice people.

Syllamo looks great, and its closer to Wisconsin than Womble.

Any places you suggest staying at, preferably as close to the trail as possible.

Any good places to grab a good beer in the area?

Syllamo

Unfortunately the county Syllamo is in is dry, so no beer. Pack in what you want. There are some cool B&B's in Mountain View, and a motel or two. The Blanchard Springs Campground is the only place to stay that offers ride in access, but obviously that's only good if you're camping. Syllamo is worth the trip in itself, but if you're coming all the way from Wisconsin, I wouldn't stop short of going another 2 hours south and hitting the Womble as well. The Mt. Ida-to-Hot Springs-to-Little Rock region offers tons and tons of trails. And the Womble, as well as Syllamo, is must-do!

A great place to stay near Syllamo is Edsrock Lodge - www.edsrock.com . It is 15 minutes north of the trail head. Very clean place, plus great views of the river from the property at Calico Rock. A great place to relax after a long day of rider.

My brother and I drove down for a long weekend from Chicago. We rode two days at Eureka Springs(Lake Leatherwood) and two days at Syllamo. Great trails!! I rode Womble a year ago and that was awesome as well. We rented cabins at both Eureka Springs and Mountain View. If you look on line you can find a lot of them for rent. We also bumped into a few riders who were camped at Blanchard Springs and rode to the bike trails.
I love Arkansas!
